Healthy Molasses Bread


A mildly sweet bread loaded with sunflower seeds and made with iron-rich blackstrap molasses.  Easy healthy recipe and no yeast required.

Ingredient Notes

  • 1 large egg , room temperature
  • 1 1/2 kefir (shake well before using)
  • 1/3 cup of olive oil
  • 3/4 cups of molasses (room temperature)
  • 1 cup of sunflower seeds
  • 3 cups of organic sprouted spelt flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

How to Make It

1. Gather the ingredients. Preheat oven to 375F degrees. In a large mixing bowl lightly whisk an egg, add kefir, olive oil, molasses, sunflower seeds, mix well. In a large measuring cup measure the flour, add baking powder, mix before starting gradually adding to the wet mixture with molasses. Combine and mix well.

2. Line the loaf pan with parchment paper, add the mixture.

3. Bake on the middle rack position for an hour or so, till crust is formed and a toothpick comes out clean. Once baked, wait to slice till bread cools off (if you can).

  • 1 1/2 cup kefir shake well before using
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 3/4 cup molasses room temperature
  • 1 cup sunflower seeds
  • 3 cup spelt flour organic sprouted
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
