Browning Sauce Substitute

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tbsp molasses
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Melt butter in a small pan over medium heat.
  • Once melted, add in the water, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder and allspice or nutmeg.
  • Simmer for five minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened and reduced slightly.
  • Taste and adjust seasonings with salt and pepper if desired. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Notes

To use the browning sauce, simply add it to dishes such as stews, soups, gravies and sauces. It can also be used as a marinade for beef, chicken or pork dishes.
And don’t forget to adjust the spices according to your preference.
