Flavorful Mashed Potatoes

Extra flavorful mashed potatoes, made with healthy and flavorful ingredients: kefir, sea salt, and basil. These potatoes are creamy and are perfect as a side dish for any meal.

  • 3 pounds white potatoes
  • 1 cup kefir
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp basil Leaves dry


  • Wash and scrub potatoes really well. Using a knife, remove the imperfections. Slice each large potato in 1/4. Fill the pot with cold water to cover the potatoes, and bring to boil. Once boiling, slightly reduce the heat and boil till cooked. Potatoes should still be firm but easily pocked with the fork.
  • Once cooked, remove from the heat and drain to make sure all the water is gone. Add kefir, salt, basil, and using a potato masher, blend till the desired texture.


-For extra smooth and fluffy texture, use a hand-held mixer to whip the potatoes.
-This recipe is also great with yogurt instead of kefir.
-To play with flavors you can add different herbs like dry dill.
