Learning how to boil quail eggs is among the best things you can learn. After all, most people find it tricky to do so, especially since they require more care than boiling chicken eggs.
Sort the eggs by size. If you have two different sizes, boil them separately.
Prepare the saucepan. Fill it with enough water to cover the eggs fully.
Bring the water to a rolling boil. Use a spoon to place them in the saucepan. Arrange them in a single layer within the saucepan. Adjust the heat.
When the water comes to a rolling boil again, reduce the heat to medium.
Depending on your preferred doneness, set the timer. We have a guide for the boiling time below.
While the eggs boil, prepare an ice water bath. Fill a bowl with ice water. Add some ice, too.
Once the desired boiling time has elapsed, use a slotted spoon to transfer the eggs from the saucepan to the ice water bath. Leave them soaking in the ice bath for 5 minutes.
Peel the eggs. Serve or store.
Notes
Soft-Boiled Quail Eggs – 2.5 MinutesIf you like a runny yolk, set your timer to 2 and a half minutes. Soft-boiled eggs have set, thick whites, but the yolk will not be cooked just yet.Medium-Boiled Quail Eggs – 3 MinutesBoil the eggs for 3 minutes if you like your yolks to be slightly set. There will be a soft spot in the middle, but the rest of the yolk will be jammy.Hard-Boiled Quail Eggs – 4 MinutesFor perfectly hard-boiled eggs, set your timer to 4 minutes. Both the yolk and the whites will be set at this point.
