There are different versions of wasabi sauce. Some people prefer diluting the grated root with water and call the result wasabi sauce. Here is a recipe for wasabi sauce you can make with a short prep time.
Stir well until all you get a smooth and creamy paste.
Do a taste test and add salt as necessary. Adjust the amount of the ingredients to suit your taste.
Let the sauce sit for a few minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
Transfer the homemade wasabi sauce to a small serving bowl or sauce container. You can serve the wasabi sauce immediately or refrigerate it for a short while to allow the flavors to further develop.
Serve!
Notes
If you find the sauce too thick, you may add a splash of water.
If you do not have access to fresh wasabi root, you can use wasabi powder instead. Dissolve the wasabi in water to make a paste before adding the other ingredients.
You may also add soy sauce to the mix depending on your preference.
If you prefer less heat, lessen the amount of wasabi paste.
Homemade wasabi sauce can be used as a dipping sauce for sushi, sashimi, or other Japanese dishes. It adds a spicy and tangy kick to your favorite dishes.
