Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp wasabi paste
  • 2 tbsp mayo
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  • Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl.
  • Stir well until all you get a smooth and creamy paste.
  • Do a taste test and add salt as necessary. Adjust the amount of the ingredients to suit your taste.
  • Let the sauce sit for a few minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
  • Transfer the homemade wasabi sauce to a small serving bowl or sauce container. You can serve the wasabi sauce immediately or refrigerate it for a short while to allow the flavors to further develop.
  • Serve!

Notes

  • If you find the sauce too thick, you may add a splash of water.
  • You may substitute rice vinegar with lime or lemon juice for a citrus twist.
  • If you do not have access to fresh wasabi root, you can use wasabi powder instead. Dissolve the wasabi in water to make a paste before adding the other ingredients.
  • You may also add soy sauce to the mix depending on your preference.
  • If you prefer less heat, lessen the amount of wasabi paste.
  • Homemade wasabi sauce can be used as a dipping sauce for sushi, sashimi, or other Japanese dishes. It adds a spicy and tangy kick to your favorite dishes.
