It may not be as common as other berries, and you may not have heard of it before. What is elderberry, and what does elderberry taste like? Here is a simple elderberry syrup recipe.
Boil your elderberries, cloves, cinnamon, and ginger in a saucepan.
Once it boils, remove the cover and let it simmer for up to 45 minutes or until you reduce the liquid by almost half.
Remove it from the heat and let it cool.
Mash the elderberries using a flat utensil or spoon, then pour it through a cheesecloth or strainer into a bowl or glass jar. Discard the mushed-up elderberries afterward.
Once your mixture has cooled, add your cup of honey and mix it well. You now have your homemade elderberry syrup!
