What is supreme pizza?

A supreme pizza is a type of pizza that typically features a variety of toppings.

It often includes a combination of meats, vegetables, and sometimes additional ingredients.

It’s known for its loaded and flavorful profile.

While the specific Suprme pizza toppings can vary from one pizzeria to another, some common toppings on a supreme pizza include:

  • Pepperoni: Slices of cured and seasoned pork or beef sausage.
  • Italian Sausage: A seasoned and spiced pork sausage.
  • Green Bell Peppers: Sliced green bell peppers add a fresh and slightly crunchy element.
  • Onions: Sliced onions provide a sweet and savory flavor.
  • Black Olives: Pitted black olives add a briny and slightly bitter taste.
  • Mushrooms: Sliced mushrooms contribute an earthy and umami-rich quality.
  • Tomatoes: Sliced or diced tomatoes can provide juiciness and acidity.
  • Extra Cheese: Often, a blend of mozzarella and other cheeses is used to add richness and gooeyness.

These toppings are usually layered over a tomato sauce and a base of mozzarella cheese on a pizza crust.

Keep in mind that while these are common toppings for a supreme pizza, different regions, and pizzerias might have variations or unique additions based on local preferences.

Tips For Success

  • Use seasoned Italian sausage; this is a key ingredient in this recipe.
  • Use a large cast-iron skillet, a minimum of 12 inches in diameter.
  • Use a well-seasoned skillet to ensure that nothing sticks.
  • To avoid soggy supreme pizza, make sure to dry the vegetables before slicing and placing them on the pizza.
  • Bake at high temperatures to ensure you have roasted vegetables on top and golden pizza crust.
  • Cast iron will be hot and heavy; use both hands and two hot mittens.

How to store Leftover Pizza?

Properly storing leftover pizza can help maintain its freshness and flavor for the next meal.

Here’s how to store leftover pizza:

  1. Cool Quickly – Allow the leftover pizza to cool down to room temperature before storing. This prevents condensation from forming inside the container, which could make the crust soggy.
  2. Wrap or Container – Place the leftover pizza in an airtight container or wrap it tightly with plastic wrap or aluminum foil. This helps prevent air exposure, which can dry out the pizza and affect its taste.
  3. Layer Separation: If you’re storing multiple slices, place a piece of parchment paper, wax paper, or even a paper towel between each slice to prevent them from sticking together.
  4. Refrigeration: If you plan to consume the leftover pizza within the next 2-3 days, store it in the refrigerator. It’s best to use a shallow container that allows for proper air circulation. Keep the temperature at or below 40°F (4°C) to slow down bacterial growth.
  5. Freezing: If you won’t be eating the pizza within a few days, you can freeze it for longer storage. Wrap each slice tightly in plastic wrap and then place them in a resealable freezer bag. Label with the date. Frozen pizza can last for 1-2 months. However, note that the texture of the crust might change after thawing.

How To Reheat Leftover Pizza?

Reheating leftover pizza is a common practice. There are several methods you can use to achieve a crispy crust and warm, gooey cheese.

Here are a few ways to reheat leftover pizza:

Oven

This method yields the closest results to the original pizza.

  1. Preheat your oven to around 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place the pizza directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil.
  3. Reheat for about 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the crust is crispy.

Skillet or Pan

To get a crispy bottom crust, heat a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat.

  1. Place the pizza slice(s) in the skillet and cover it with a lid or foil to help melt the cheese.
  2. This method takes a few minutes and works well for thin-crust pizzas.

Microwave with a Cup of Water

To prevent the crust from becoming soggy, here is the microwave method.

  1. Place a microwave-safe cup of water in the microwave alongside the pizza.
  2. Heat the pizza slice on a microwave-safe plate for about 20-30 seconds on medium power. This won’t crisp up the crust, but it helps to maintain a better texture.

Toaster Oven

If you have a toaster oven, it’s a convenient option for reheating pizza.

  1. Follow similar instructions to the oven method, preheating the toaster oven and placing the pizza directly on the rack or on a baking sheet.

Hot Pizza Stone or Cast Iron Pan

If you have a pizza stone or cast iron pan this method of preheating the leftover pizza works great.

  1. Preheat it in the oven and then place the pizza on top. This can help recreate a crisp crust, similar to when the pizza was initially baked.
  2. Remember that the exact reheating time can vary based on the thickness of the crust and the power of your appliance.
  3. Keep an eye on the pizza to avoid overcooking or burning.
  4. It’s also a good idea to let the reheated pizza rest for a minute or two before enjoying to allow the cheese to set slightly.
