Recipe Features

This recipe is really simple, and it’s made in less than 15 minutes.

Perfect appetizer to serve at the party or use as a healthy snack any time of the day

Great way to use avocadoes available all year round.

Key Ingredients

ingredients to make guacamole with salsa

Ingredient Notes

Avocadoes. This is truly the key ingredient to perfect guacamole dip. First, choose the perfectly ripe Hass avocadoes. The avocado is supposed to hold the shape while still bend under slight pressure.

Salsa. Choose your favorite; if serving to kids, choose mild kind.

Lime juice. You can substitute with lemon juice or use bottled lemon juice to save time.

Onions. I choose the purple onion kind this time; the sweet Vidalia onion would be milder. If serving to kids, you might skip the onions since they really add the kick and make it not boring.

Optional ingredients you might add.

  • Powdered or fresh garlic.
  • Cilantro.

Step-by-step Instructions

Step 1. Slice the avocadoes horizontally, remove the skin and the pit.

Step 2. Place in the dish and mash with a fork. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well to combine. Serve with chips or vegetables.

Recipe Tips

Add salt to taste at the end, the salsa might have some salt, and you might want to skip adding extra.

Store in the fridge covered with plastic wrap. For best flavor and presentation, serve immediately since it doesn’t preserve well and will turn brown.

Serving Tips

Serve as a dip with your favorite chips. I like to serve it with Siete chips; they are gluten-free, grain-free, made with minimal ingredients, and avocado oil instead of canola oil.

For low-carb options, serve with cucumber slices or lettuce wraps.

Use as a spread on toast or in sandwiches.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do you keep guacamole from turning brown?

In a storing dish add a bit of water to cover the surface completely and add a plastic wrap to prevent air circulation. Pour out the water before serving.
