2 1/2 cups of organic sprouted spelt flour, divided
9 tablespoons of salted butter, diced
1 cup of yogurt, unsweetened whole milk kind
How to Make Homemade Pie Crust
Step 1. Gather the ingredients. In a mixing bowl add two cups of flour. Add the diced butter and mix with a large spoon till combined. Gradually add yogurt, keep mixing, and add more flour. Once it looks less sticky, start working with the dough with your hands. Form the ball.
Step 2. Wrap the ball in plastic wrap, place it in the fridge for 10 minutes to chill. Once chilled, slice in half. Place the second half back in the fridge.
Step 3. Prepare a flat surface lightly sprinkled with flour. Using a rolling pin, roll out the first half of the dough into the circle shape.
Step 4. Place in the pie dish. Fold over the overlapped ends inside the dish, so they don’t burn when baking.
Step 5. Using a fork, press tight to make the design. Prick the dough in the middle with a fork.
Step 6. If ready to use, place a filling inside and bake at 400F degrees for 30-40 minutes till lightly brown, and the center of the dish is set.
Recipe Tips
If the butter is not softened, use a box grater to grate the butter.
If the dough is sticky add more flour.
